Somatic Consent Education
About this event
4pm - 7pm Somatic Consent Workshop with Rebekah Rose (She/They)
I am a queer illustrator/muralist, somatic consent educator, and yoga/mindfulness teacher. I specialize in group facilitation as well as private instruction. I have 8 years experience as a trauma-informed yoga teacher and have been teaching art classes on and off since 2016.
I use a combination of trauma-informed approaches to art and movement to help people build up a sense of safety and trust in their bodies and their expressions (be that an artistic expression or otherwise).
Through group discussion, lecture style learning, and guided practice I help people identify and strengthen their boundaries both as they relate to themselves and to others. And help people uncover the joy and magic of finding consent in everyday moments. It is important to destigmatize consent, and question our understanding of it. I believe that having an ongoing practice of consent transforms lives and helps people, especially survivors of trauma and those most impacted by systemic oppression, to feel more empowered to be their full authentics selves.
7pm- 9pm Open Mic
All welcome ~ Come to enjoy or come to perform. Our intention is to foster a kind and supportive community space encouraging folks to engage in self expression by providing a safe space to share. No need to attend prior workshop to participate in the open mic.
